Having been involved in the life of the Westmere Presbyterian Church for a number of years, more recently as the fully inducted minister, I am glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself to the Westmere/Rapanui/ Brunswick area.

As the parish minister, I am available to help individuals and families with any pastoral matters. You are especially welcome to join us for Sunday services. Our congregation is blessed with many new people joining us regularly. There is room for plenty more, especially once renovations of the church and hall are completed. Don’t wait till then though!. My phone number is shown here, and I am happy to take calls and make pastoral visits if you contact me.

At Westmere, we make no apology for saying that we are a Bible based Christian church. While some people may say that the Bible is not relevant, we think this couldn’t be further from the truth. Perhaps if people had listened to God’s Word, we might not have been so quick to embrace the policies of neo-liberalism with such enthusiasm thirty years ago!

The free market hasn’t proved to be all that free, and it has come at a cost. All that glitters hasn’t proved to be gold, for a great number of people. Often we look for solutions to our problems, other than the solutions God offers us, and we come up empty handed.

We talk about these and many other matters of faith and belief and while we don’t claim to have all the answers, we believe that God is real. We believe that God’s Word needs to be taken seriously. God has much to say to us about how we’re to live in the world, and living God’s way assures our future. We Christians are grateful that God offers us extraordinary help through Jesus Christ; God’s answer to our deepest need. Jesus Christ is for us the Way, the Truth and the Life, and not just for us, but for the community, for our country, and for the world.
